The Hardy Boys # 1 The Tower Treasure By Franklin W. Dixon Frank and Joe Hardy are the sons of famous private detective Fenton Hardy and solve mysteries of their own when they aren't attending Bayport High School, which would be most of the time. It must always be the summer holidays or something. Sixteen-year-old Frank has brown hair and his blonde haired brother Joe is fifteen. Yes I know what you're probably thinking, but wait; I'll explain that in a minute. The Roaring Twenties ushered in a new era of children's fiction: the mystery serial novel. In the US, the Stratemeyer Syndicate made their mark upon the publishing world with their introduction of several mystery adventure series aimed squarely at the juvenile market. Titles ranged from the iconic Bobbsey Twins, for the younger reader who had mastered chapter books, to the pre and early teen market with Tom Swift, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys. Together, (& sometimes from help with family & friends) they investigate all sorts of crimes & strange occurences.... Aged about 10 I'd read & re-read all of my Enid Blyton books & moved on to the Hardy Boys series which, at that time, was being published by Armada in the UK. The series was originally published in the US by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. A number of ghost writers penned books for the series which were all published under the name Franklin W. Dixon. This tale, which was the first published in the ... Read the complete review

I have always loved books, from a very early age, and while I was still at school, I devoured the Hardy Boys books at an alarming rate. The Hardy Boys book were written by Franklin W Dixon, which is the pen name for Leslie McFarlane. It is only recently, as I have scoured numerous books looking for possible books for my son to read that I came across these once more in the young adult section. Intrigued, I picked one up and thumbed through it, the memories flooding back to me. Sadly, I don't own any of these books, and never have done, but I got them all out of the library when I read them, so I scooted back there again, to find they were still ... Read the complete review
