Advantages: An easy read

Disadvantages: Very little science with this fiction

Firstly, I think I would have to take issue with this book being listed as Science Fiction/Fantasy. According to the book's cover, it is "a novel of paranormal passion" and I'd go one step further and call it an erotic romance set in a fantasy environment. The science fiction element is merely that several characters in the book are humanoids with additional feline DNA, who are referred to as Breeds.

The Harmony of the title is Harmony Lancaster who is of the Lion Breed and she has been created to be a huntress with a strong desire to kill. In fact, she used to be known by the nickname, Death. Harmony has become something of a liability to her own people due to her tendency to take the law into her own hands, but as she has some knowledge concerning the first Leo which will be useful, and which a dangerous cult leader is trying to obtain in order to destroy the Breeds, Harmony needs protection and that comes in the shape of Sheriff Lance Jacobs. Needless to say, Lance is an ultra alpha male and immediately falls in lust with Harmony and she with him.

Truth to tell, there is very little story and a huge amount of luridly described rumpy pumpy. Lora Leigh is very fond of describing genitalia in all its glory which, rather than being erotic or arousing, is simply rather tacky, and certainly doesn't add anything to the story. Not that there is much story really and what there is seems merely to be a vehicle for the various sexual interludes between Harmony and Lance and between a couple of secondary characters thrown in for good measure.

I'm not against erotic romance, in fact I quite enjoy it when it is well written but I'm afraid Lora Leigh has a tendency towards prose of the purplest kind which simply detracts from the story. Similar books have been written by much better writers, Emma Holly for instance, and I suggest that if you're looking for an enjoyable and sexy romp, give this a miss and try an Emma Holly book instead.

Summary: An erotic romance with lots of sex
