Advantages: fascinating read, the good wins, despite losses, you can read it all over again and the quality of the book will increase
Disadvantages: sleepless nights
This MUST be a conspiracy! First, the world was alright, my life not particularly interesting, but I was fairly happy, or at least not unhappy... Then came Harry Potter and I spent night awake to literally eat the first three books. Then I had to wait nearly 3 weeks before The Goblet of Fire was published! I have been a book maniac ever since I can remember and I have waited more than once for a sequel to some book to be published. But I was never suffering as I was during the wait for The Goblet of Fire! I felt feverish while wondering whether Sirius will be around, wondering if Draco turns into a decent human, wondering what would happen at the Quidditch World Cup... I was not disappointed in any way. The characters around the World Cup proved a new interesting angle, and my suspicions of the Malfoys being real baddies were increased when draco met harry & co in the forest part of the campground. Things got seriously interesting when Harry's name came out of the Goblet, eventhough he had certainly not put his name into it, how could he have done it, anyway? Even Ron should have known that! But Ron being Ron, I'll forgive him for that. As soon as Sirius appeared for real, I finally could relax. Aha. The wonderful, gorgious Sirius is still around and stronger, now, with Dumbledore's support. Of course, Dumbledore supports him, since he, like me, believes in the truth, no matter how unlikely it sounds. Btw, I am convinced by now, too, that Snape will not return to Voldemort's side! And Sirius has serious advice to offer to Harry, just like any decent Godfather would. When Sirius' head appeared in the fire, shortly before Harry's first task as a Champion, I relieved a scene of my own childhood: When I was around 12 years old, my own godfather bought me a pair of ice skates, the only thing he ever gave me. And his advice was, 'go out there and KNOW that you have unlimited potential. If you want to, you can become a champio
n. And if you want to, you can just simply have a lot of fun. But never forget: only do what feels right for you. It has to feel right deep inside you and then it will be right.' I have followed that philosophy ever since. When I finished The Goblet of Fire, I felt somewhat drained. It was such a tremendously wonderful, beautiful read, despite, or maybe even because of a death (Cedric), despite, or maybe because of yet another encounter with Voldemort, and it was hard to return to day-to-day life. Good had yet again won over bad and I so hope that this will be reality some day. That truth will prevail. My whole family has been waiting impatiently for the publication of HP 5 and I know we will be fighting over who gets the first read, despite having agreed on buying 2 copies! But we are 4 family members. The youngest member, 4 yrs, does not yet officially read, but he certainly has had all HP books read to him, by joint family effort. And he likes to identify with Ron mostly, sometimes Harry. signed Prof McGonagall
