WARNING! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NO READ IT! Magic, Magic and more Magic! We have come to expect nothing but pure brillianc formt he harry potter series and this Bokk does not dissapooint. Having read this book on numerous occasions I can with ease say that it is the best in the series so far. It follows on from where the Order Of the Phoenix finished, the wizarding world now practically at war. The opening chapter of the book is very well placed, it may not be the most exciting opening but it certainly makes perfect timing by telling us about relations between the muggle authoirities ( ie the prime minister, who makes an appearance- though ... So, a new Harry Potter novel. Once again, the publishing and bookselling industry is pushed to the point of collapse to accomodate the insane media-whipped frenzy to acquire the latest brick-thick installment in the moppet wizard’s education. Was it worth it? Is it ever? Well, let’s see, and I’ll keep it free from major spoilers. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince sees the young orphan wizard enter his sixth year at Hogwarts School for Wizardry (or something) under a bit of a cloud. After all, his parents’ murderer is still at large and he’s still reeling from the death of a major character in the last book (although it was so clearly ... Read the complete review

Ok, I gave into media pressure and bought this book, well I’ve read the five previous books in the series, so I couldn’t really not read this one could I? Normally, I wait for my favourite books to appear in paperback format, as they’re normally so much cheaper, and I’m sitting here wondering why I gave in to all the hype and actually bought this book less than a week after it went on sale. I guess it was because I really wanted to know if it was a good (or bad) as the reviews suggested, and anyway it’s nice to have hardback books, they last so much longer (even if they do take up more room on the bookshelf). Now the question is, what do I think about the book? Well I’ve ... Read the complete review

Early on the morning of Saturday July 16th a hirsute Dooyoo contributor sat at his computer waiting for the postman to call. Eventually, at around 10am, the postman called with a parcel, a parcel that was eagerly awaited but the aforementioned person. He ripped open the parcel with gusto, mainly because he happened to have a can in the cupboard and it was easier to use than a pair of scissors. Inside the package was a brand new copy of a brand new book, the much-hyped and long awaited 6th and penultimate chapter of the Harry Potter Saga, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. After that wordy introduction I had better get on with the review! As I sat ... Read the complete review

Recently I went to see the film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I decided to read the book again to see how it compared. THE PLOT Having recently returned to power, evil dark wizard Lord Voldemort and his followers are terrorising both the Muggle and Wizarding worlds. Even Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is no longer the safe haven it once was. With the knowledge that Harry Potter is the only one capable of defeating Voldermort, Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore is intent upon preparing Harry for the final battle that he knows is approaching. Together they delve into Voldermort's past in order to find the key to unlocking ... Read the complete review
