Advantages: Another tale of Harry Potter
Disadvantages: a bit dull, nothing new
I first came accross Harry Potter when I was working in a residential home for older people and we were reading the first one to one of the residents. I've been pretty much hooked ever since.
In this book we see Harry in his fifth year at Hogwarts - the School for all the good and bad wizards - it is now known about the 'prophecy' and Harry being the chosen one.
He is still being stared at all through the year, but it's general Harry Potter stuff.
Snape is there again, being his usual Snapeish self. All through the stories I've been willing Snape to turn out good, but in this book we see him getting the Defense of Dark Arts post and we all know this post is doomed. A year is all you get at this post.
One goes and to a most horrible and humble death......where does it go next? Not to Hogwarts anyway, Harry has vowed to track the one who shall not be named to the ends of the earth and he's going to skip his A-Levels to do it - what kind of an example is that?
I have had to adjust this review, I gave away the ending, so apologies to those that didn't want to know.
I did enjoy it, but not as good as the rest, I hope there is another one, but I won't rush out and buy it.
Summary: A good story but not the best of hers

- 08/10/05 Glad i have read the book and not trying to decide whether to read it or not as you have done nothing much here except give away all the shock endings! |

- 04/10/05 I disagree, thought this was the best in the series, with the possible exception of The Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm glad I read it before reading your review tho', I wouldn't have been very happy at having the ending ruined.... |
