The finest of the Potter books (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J. K. Rowling)
Advantages: The books come into their own Disadvantages: You know it can't keep this standard in the next books I haven't read the final Harry Potter volume yet so I can't say with complete certainty but I'm just going to put my cards on the table and come out with it - my favourite Harry Potter book is The Prisoner of Azkaban. It was the start of a really dark turn for the Harry Potter books but still managed to retain an optimism. If the first two books were to childlike for you then this was when the tale started to really kick in. It's a double whammy for me because it just so happens that The Prisoner of Azkaban is also my favourite Potter film to date. So there is definitely something about this particular tale that has me enchanted. Harry really comes into his own in this one and we learn a little more about his family and his history. This is the book that made me realise that you didn't have to be a child to enjoy this series. Pick this one up and give it a go if you have never read any of the series. But it would be best if you went the whole hog and bought The Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets too... if only to get a feel for Harry's world before delving into this one. Summary: JK Rowling hit gold here |
