Advantages: Strong storylines, identifiable charactors, gripping

Disadvantages: i cant think of any!

Before i ever read a Harry Potter book i had read many other stories about witches and wizards including several series of books about the same charactors. My friends kept telling me just how great the harry potter books where but i refused to read them believe that they could not be better than any of the other books i had read, especially seeing as my favourite books at that time were by an author who wrote a series about magicians and wizards. I believed that the harry potter books (at the time only nubers one to 4 were out) were being hyped up too much. However i was forced to read The philosophers stone at a book club i was a part of at that time, from then on i was hooked on the whole series of books, lucikly for me just as i finished the thrid book the fith had been realeased and a week later i was already up to reading it. After that came the long, hard wait for the next oen to come out , which sadly i had to miss going to the launch of. I became so obsessed with these books that for the 7th book i made sure to attend a midnight launch and straight away after midnight after being one of the first to get my book, i went home and me and my friend stayed up reading it till 2 when my friend wanted to go to bed. For the whole of the next day and the morning after that i read without stoping for more than a hour and finished the book.
These storys hold so much inspiration and adventure, each page is full of suspense and excitment so much that i have read them over and over again. The plots to these storys are brilliant , it is evident that J.K Rowling has thought long and hard over her stories and her charactors before writing. Her charactors are so in depth and well described that we almost feel as though they are alive as we read the stories. I think that this series has been such a phononomon because the charactors although having magic powers are very much like normall teenagers going through things that normall teens go through, having to learn to be adults, noticing the oposite sex, first crushes, new schools, new friends. I think that children like the fact that they can identify with the charactors of the book and feel like the story could really be happening out there without us knowing.

Summary: This is an excellent series of books !
