Advantages: good easy read, imaginative, good vs. evil
Disadvantages: hard for younger children, no paperback
I was very happy to finally get a hold of all the Harry Potter series and I have now read them twice! As a 41-year-old woman I found them quite good and very enjoyable easy reading! However I was sort of distressed when I began to watch a series from the UK called Worst Witch! I wondered just how much Ms. J.K. Rowling has taken from this show? Now I'm wondering if the writer's of worst witch have been also seeing the closeness of theme, style and subject matter? Is the Harry Potter series a rip-off of earlier writers efforts? Hey it's pretty easy to change a few things and have the stories nearly the same but still different! It just seems odd that I haven’t heard anyone say anything about this! I hope that Fans of Worst Witch and Harry Potter can see that there are several strong similarities between the two I guess you can enjoy both of them as I do, then try to decide which came first! And which is better?

- 01/08/01 Haven't even heard of Worst Witch but I have read Harry Potter and it is harmless fun as far as i am concerned and it seems to make a lot of kids very happy. By the way I was recommended The Earthsea Quartet by Ursula LeGun. Have you read this? |

- 01/08/01 Welcome to dooyoo, as other people have said you make a good point but don't really go into enough details on the books. |
