Jesus and you will find the author’s own personality reflected back. This book is no exception. I was intrigued by the author’s perspective and although I had heard of Andrew Harvey I had never read anything of his before. Checking out some background I came to the conclusion that this ‘Jesus’ mirrors the author quite well. The story of the prodigal son is of central importance to Harvey who says: “Jesus beautifully illustrates here how the “sinful” soul, because of its own shame … cannot comprehend the wildness of God’s love, and still, half-consciously, hides from it in self contempt.” (11 f.) ...
