Advantages: enjoyable, easy to read, you feel really involved in the plot

Disadvantages: none

James Lee Burke is a US crime writer receiving critical acclaim from many international publications. He has written 26 published novels, receiving at least two Edgar Awards and a nomination for a Pulitzer Prize for his work.

The novel is focused on a guy named Dave Robicheaux who is witness to an horrific plane crash while he is out with his Wife for the day trying to enjoy some peaceful relaxing time fishing. He basically attends the wreckage and finds four dead and miraculously one survivor, a little girl. The authorities when they arrive, insist that there were only three bodies and so Dave goes on to found the whereabouts of the missing man. The events change his life forever.

Anyway, I really detest giving away plot lines on books and films so am going to give nothing away here.

James Lee Burke, in my view, is a brilliant crime writer and I shall definitely be picking up some of his other titles. His characters are so diverse and his ability to describe that is extraordinary - you feel that you know them all!

I would recommend this book and the author.

Summary: Gritty Crime Novel by a great author
