Hello Dudley is a hand puppet, within a book, operated by the story teller. Each page depicts a different scene in Dudleys day. You are presented with three choices on each page and are instructed by the front cover "You're in charge of Dudleys day. What will he do? What will he say?". From a childs point of view its a very annoying book. Clearly any self respecting three year old wants to be the pupeteer but if you do that you can't see the pictures as the book is facing away from you so you have to do it in front of a big mirror which makes your choice of reading venue very limited. Hello Dudley! is an imaginatively thought out book in a small series by Sam Lloyd, which includes Calm Down Boris, another favourite in our household, and the winner of the Richard and Judy best book for children award. Hello Dudley! is a rather large board book with a hole at the centre, through which a hand puppet appears. Each of the books in this series by Sam Lloyd features a different hand puppet and all are just as colourful and creative as the next.
