Writer Charlotte Chandler met Groucho Marx in 1972, five years before he died. She became friendly with the comedian, then in his eighties, and was allowed access to his home, day to day life and encounters with famous friends. In 1979 she published 'Hello, I Must Be Going', a bumper 500+ page book which is a sort of biography including anecdotes, Marx looking back on his life and career and numerous famous names who drop in on the comedian for a chat including Woody Allen, Jack Nicholson, Bill Cosby, Bud Cort, and Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
