Yes I've returned to fluffy literature
After the thrills of the last couple of books I've read and enjoyed, a brief dip into some fluffy chick lit was inevitable. And enjoyable.
This is the story of three friends, Katie, Georgia and Alice. The tale of their three very different hen parties, a brief insight into the breakdown of their marriages and friendship, and the finding each other again.
Katie is a Maths teacher. Married first, and far too young. Divorced quickly and built up walls. When a shock proposal sweeps her back into her past, she starts to understand how she became the way she did and decides to turn herself around.
Georgia is a hardnosed, hard-hearted Gossip Journalist. When a family illness forces her to return 'up north' briefly, she comes face to face with her childhood tormentor, and a revelation about her career.
Alice is a single mother. Her actor ex has never met their daughter, and she has just rented a tiny cottage in a village in the West Country, and promptly discovered herself the centre of attention for the village gossips.
This is a very well written novel, with characters that most would be able to identify to people they know. They are very likeable and the story is easy to get drawn into.
Each chapter tells a different part of someone's story, so the strands of the story get unravelled through out the story, with the ends coming together at the end of the book.
It was a very easy read of a very nicely flowing story. Perfect for a rainy weekend, or a day on the beach
Summary: perfect for the beach, or curled next to the fire as it rains

- 14/08/09 Hardly any opinion here, it doesn't tell me much other than the plot. |
