I first read Here be Dragons when I was twelve years old. I laughed, I cried, I learned a great deal about history and relationships - not all of it true! The narrative centres around the three main characters: John, the landless brother of Richard the Lionheart, doomed to skulk forever in his brother's shadow, always a little less talented, less fortunate, always coming last in his mother's heart.
