This is one of the books in my box of ... more  ... nursery rhyme books, and one which I have used for a number of years. It is a popular book, and has certainly been well thumbed as children find their favourite rhyme and run their finger along the text as they read the rhyme.
It contains 28 nursery rhymes including "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Humpty Dumpty", "Jack and Jill" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep". One of the things I like about it is that it does have mostly well known traditional rhymes and not too many obscure ones.

Hey Diddle Diddle and other Nursery Rhymes Jane Chapman One of the skills we try to encourage with young children is the ability to recognise familiar characters and to be able to recite familiar rhymes and stories. A great way to do this is through nursery rhymes which will then help them later to recal stories poems and songs. I don't specifically "read" this book to the children because when we ar joining in with nursery rhymes we use a big range of resources including books, the interactive whiteboard and various props.
