Advantages: Lovely illustrations, lots of feely bit

Disadvantages: The writing could be hard to read for youngsters

I was a sentimental old fool buying this for my son as his first easter present. It was in tesco for £4, you can get it for amazon at the moment for £4.99. The rrp on the back is £9.99 so I feel I got a bargain.

It is a big hard back book with thick board pages so I hope it will withstand some rough treatment. It is a touchy-feely book and if you've never had one of those it is a book with cut-outs in the pictures where they have put some material for little fingers to feel. This book also has sections that are flaps to lift up.

The story basically goes through spring, summer, autumn and winter and you have to find the hiding baby bunnies under the flaps. Each page needs you to find a different number of bunnies and not all the flaps have bunnies underneath. At the end of the book there are bunnies for every month of the year so you could teach your child the months of the year. These pictures also have flaps or a touchy-feely bit.

The illustrations are gorgeous. I particularly like summer because there are a couple of big touchy-feely cut outs the rest of them are quite small being tails or ears which are going to be great for refining his finger skills but at the moment he just whacks the book randomly while I do the lifting and pointing.

I can see him using this book well into his toddler years but it is a bit girly probably for an older boy. The short sections of writing I suppose could be used to learn letters but the font is a bit flowery and not big bold printing like most books aimed at youngsters.

I love the touchy-feely range and this is one of the better ones just because of the size of the pictures and the fact that there are more than one bit of touchy-feely per page because the pictures are telling a story.

Summary: Lovely book well 'built' will withstand some punishment
