Now for everyone who has ever watched this film and enjoyed it I highly recommend you in getting this book, well after you have read the prequel to this book, of course.
Now I have already reviewed the prequel to this book called "High School Musical" And I'm pretty sure I said it was brilliant, and what I happen to be saying now is that you should read that review so you know a little bit more about this story and the characters rather than reading this review without reading the review I did on the previous book.

Now I'm pretty sure that everyone has heard of High School Musical, and I'm pretty sure that those of you who haven't would know that the third one is in the cinema. Now these books I am currently reviewing are novelisations of the actual film, and so far it has been completely accurate towards the actual films. So I have gathered that the author N.B. Grace, had seen the script along with the film and converted it into the book, due to the fact that this book must have been out at the same time as the film, and also that N.B. Grace must be a pretty good author due to the fact that she has not got too many speeches in and it looks like a proper book rather than an interpretation of a film, as there is hardly any speech in the book what so ever, and that means she had a copy of the script and decided to keep very little of the script and made the book her own, however it is an identical copy of the film.
I happen to be a massive fan of both books and films and especially books that are made into films and vice-versa. However, if I dislike a film, I'm more than likely to dislike the book. Now I wouldn't say I didn't like High School Musical 2 the film, however, I have to say that the story behind the whole film wasn't as interesting as the first (nor the third). So I pretty much expected the book to be as dull and boring... due to the fact that there was no songs inside the book, also made me think to myself, that it's not going to intrigue me. But, surprisingly enough, I became captured in the book and I loved the book a lot more than the film, although I do wish that N. B. Grace had put in some of the song words so that you could sing while reading the book, as you would know where the certain bits of the songs fitted within the book, like it did on the first book. I was very surprised when I quite enjoyed reading this book.

If you have happened to be reading all my latest reviews you would have noticed that there happens to be 2 reviews on books from High School Musical. However they are totally different from one another, these books are novelisations of the actual film. The other books are spin-off books that have been specifically created for readers, rather than actual films. The novelisations are a lot longer than the spin-off books. That was just to prevent you from getting very confused.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you are all dying to know what the story line of this book is... well... It continues the story of Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez, Sharpay Evans, Ryan Evans, Chad Danforth and Taylor McKessie. School's out and no more classes. Problem is, is that there is the long hot summer and they have no money, so they decide to get a summer job.

Somewhere out of the blue Troy gets a job straight away. But he doesn't want to be doing the job all by his self, so he compromises and gets the whole group to help. Problem is, is that they are working at a place where the Evan's family always stay, and that means that they all have to be on the waiting hand of Miss Evans, otherwise known as Sharpay. And that is not a good thing.
Then, surprisingly enough, Troy gets a promotion and also he gets his dreams come true. However, he's leaving his friends out and have not realise. What will Troy do? Follow his dreams? Or think more about how he's treating he's friends?

There is also a talent show but Sharpay wants to be centre stage, and therefore she stops the staff from being in the talent show and it's all down to Troy to save the day, or is it?
Now the story line is not that good and is portrayed worse in the film, however in the book it's portrayed much better and can be more understood. However the book is missing the songs and that's the main disappointment of the book, well in my opinion anyway.

Now that leaves us with the cover, which doesn't really show the book that well and doesn't portray the book, there is hardly anything to do with water in the book at all. So the cover doesn't really relate to the story that well.
I enjoyed looking at the pictures inside the book as there is "fantastic photos" in the middle, I always love looking at the photos!

I hope this review has been some use to you, however if you want to read this book, please read the first book before hand.
