****German practice papers-reading and writing****
I first used this book a few years ago when i did higher German at school and since i thought it was handy then i decided to have another look at it.
The book is meant to be for Scottish higher students but i think it will help anyone who wants to improve their reading and writing. For those that are studying German it is suitable for the current higher still examination(2009).
The book is divided into three main sections:
1.Reading
One thing i like about the texts used is that they are taken from genuine German material.I think that this is good because it gives you practice in reading authentic German. There are three topic areas in this area and they are lifestyles, education and work and the wider world. After each reading passage there are questions followed by answers which is good if you are studying on your own as you can see how you have done. The reading passages could also be used to help people with speaking practice.
2.directed writing
This book contains 10 different scenarios to help students prepare for their writing exam. These are good as more than likely something similar to one of these will appear in the exam. This section also has phrases which help if at first you are not confident with the grammar side of things.
3.End of unit reading tests
Gives you more practice in preparing for reading tests or if you don't study at school just practice in general.Again these all have answers at the back so you can check how well you did.
I think that this is a great learning resource, good in general, invaluable if you are studying for an exam.
Price-says £7.99 on the back of the book but i don't think i paid this much
