Jez Alborough has written a whole series all about this Duck, originally it was Duck in a Truck that he wrote that started the whole series off. My daughter picked up this book, Hit the Ball Duck, in the pound shop for just 99p which I thought was amazing for such a nice book. You can expect to pay around £3-£5 for it online or in book shops.


What I really liked when I read this book was how easy it was to get carried away with it. I especially liked the line "with a hop, and a skip, and a one, two, three..." because it just rolls off the tongue and makes the reader feel like they're having fun and not just the little listener.


The colours and illustrations in this book are extremely good quality and there is just the right amount of rhyming story going on to keep a young child interested from start to finish. There is about one sentence per page and the rest is all big pictures so I think this is ideal for babies up to around five or six years. Maybe even a little older.


I really enjoyed reading this and my grandson loved listening to it. For 99p I have to go with five stars but I'd probably still give it that if it had cost £5!
