ISBN: 0-85177-703-1 I have always lived reasonably close to Greenwich and Woolwich which are areas of Greater London that are steaped in the history of Britain and the world at large. So when I found out that HMS Beagle, of Charles Darwin and the Origin of Species fame, was built in Woolwich Dockyards in 1818, I began to take an interest in this famous British Navy "little ship".
