Advantages: Adventure and great storyline

Disadvantages: slow start

The Hobbit, Tolkien's first fantasy book containing the weird and wonderful world of Goblins, Wreaths and wizards.
The hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, finds himself going on an adventure with Gandalf the grey, a wizard with many talents and a group of Dwarves. This adventure takes them into many places of danger to face off many strange creatures.
In this book Tolkien creates his own world of mythology with creatures which do nothing less than amaze us. From reading this book we can see where many of the idea's for other stories and TV programs such as Dungeons and Dragons, not to mention computer games came from.
This is an excellent story packed full of adventure and mythology. It is also the precursor to 'The Lord of the Rings' which is another excellent book.
