[Op on "Falling Sideways"] Also compulsary opening.. This will be moved to the right section as soon as the right section is created for it :) Before you embark upon reading this review, I want you to clear your mind, I want you to know that everything you believe to be true, is indeed false.. Their is infact a Spoon (Yes, I`m using it to eat my Cornflakes infact..) Oh, and before I forget, Frogs Rule the Universe.. (Yes, you read right, Frogs..) "In fact, as they will be delighted to tell you, Taunton is no longer a one horse town, these days they have a bicycle as well" -- from "Expecting Somone Taller" by Tom Holt. Tom Holt is an author in the genre of Humorous Fantasy. If that doesn't mean anything to you, think Terry Pratchet gone a bit nuts and you wont be far off. In fact, he is often compared to Terry Pratchet though they both have very different writing styles. I was now going to write that Tom Holt is funnier but his bribe cheque has not yet cleared, so I'll leave it for you to decide. Tom Holt is a funny fantasy author. He is not like Terry Pratchett. This is a somewhat contentious statement, allow me to clarify, not better, not worst, just different, and deliberately so. In order to back up this statement, allow me to quote from Tom Holt, in a chat I had with him at a book signing (there weren't many people there, so I got to have a good long chat with him) "I hadn't read any Terry Pratchett until I had finished Flying Dutch, then someone gave me Guards, Guards to read. I read it, and got very annoyed. Here was someone, writing in the same style as me, but better. I realised then that I would have to change ...  Read the complete review

In every single book of his i`ve read, from page one i`ve been hooked. Holt is an excellent author. His books combine humour, wit, adventure and much more. Every character is as loveable and believable as the last, each developing a distinct personality thoughout the books. Where he gets the ideas for his books is beyond me, for example a sun that is manned and powered around the world by dwarfs! Holt is one of very few authors capable of making me literally laugh out loud as i read his books. A definite must for all comedy-fiction readers. Once you`ve read one, you`ll be certain to become an avid fan. This was a quik ...  Read the complete review
