One of my childhood favourite authors is none other than terry Deary. He is famous for his book series known as Horrible Histories. In this collection there are some great reads, one of which is the Even More Terrible Tudors.
Cover:
You should never judge a book by the cover, so they say, but I am terrible - I always do it! And I must say, the cover of this particular book is quite exciting! The main colour is a blue shade. There is a man with a blindfold on and another dressed in dark black with a large sword...it seems quite threatenin but very exciting!
Plot:
Naturally, the book is all about the Tudors and the lives lead during that period of time. It teaches us about the highs and lows, and all the interesting parts to keep us entertained. There are a lot of humerous and witty facts that will have you laughing and exciting pictures too! It is different to the first Terrible Tudors as there are a lot more facts and new thngs to discover, but I found the same things coming up a few times too! Its all very exciting"
Suitability:
The book is aimed at children of around 9-12 years old. I do agree with this - the text is a nice size and easy to read, with no overly complicated language apart from the odd piece of jargon here and there. The images make it more entertaining for them and they can learn without knowing it! Adults can also enjoy it as it is a good stepping stone to get to grips with the basic facts!
Price:
You can buy this book for just 1p on Amazon.co.uk, with just £2.75 for postage and packaging! That is a lot cheaper than the RRP price of £4.99, a real bargain! It will be definitely money well spent!
This is an interesting book and I know a lot more now that I did before. It is perfect for studying the topic and also makes a nice read too.
