Terry Deary is a fantastic author. He is famous for his collection of books known as 'Horrible Histories'. These books cover a wide range of topics in History and are supposed to make learning fun for children. One of these is the Groovy Greeks.
Plot:
This particular book takes us back in time to the time of Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology. It's one of the original books by Deary but despite being older it still displays fantastic work. The pictures inside are delightful and there are a lot of interesting facts that children can discover.
Age range:
Although the books are aimed at children in the 9-12 age bracket, I do think it is suitable for anybody older too. It is a nice and easy way to get to grips with a new topic that is thrown at you before you start trying to unravel the hard and complicated facts! Also, it makes good revision too since it is a nice size. The book has 128 pages, which may seem a lot, but a lot of it is taken up by cartoon strips and such like, so it really is not bad at all! Children though will be attracted to the design on the front, which is quite peculiar! I mean theres a giant wooden horse..if that doesnt lure you in, nothing will!
Price:
You can buy this book from Amazon.co.uk. It will cost you just 1p, and for that price, you cannot go wrong! Yes there is the £2.75 postage fee but even then that is much cheaper than the £5.99 RRP price!
Whether you are studying the Ancient Greeks at school, or your child is and you want to help them, or you even just fancy learning about them yourself, then this is an amazing book! It is light to read and will have you laughing too - what better way is there to learn?!
