I know so many 6 to 8 year olds who have finally got hooked on reading alone through the Horrid Henry books. The stories are short & manageable & kids love Henry - foul but hugely likeable too in a parade of incredibly funny situations - & his genius for brilliantly bad ideas, which only sometimes work out as he's planned. Horrid Henry's Evil Enemies is a compilation of 10 stories that have already been around a while, so if you've got a few of the older books already watch out - you may end up with duplicates.
