Under the Dome - Stephen King ... This book was delivered to me on its day of release - the 10th of November from Amazon, and I finally finished the last of its 880 pages last night. Normally for me I will read a book obsessively until it is done and usually takes me a week or so to finish, due to the time of year it is and other distractions i.e. Dooyoo this has taken me far longer than normal and now I m left with the familiar sense of loss that I always get when I reach the end of an involving, all-encompassing read. Not since "The Stand" has Stephen King given us such a character driven, sprawling epic of a novel like Under the Dome is. His last couple of books - Cell and Duma... The Girl On The Landing - Paul Torday ... staying with friends in Ireland, Michael Gascoigne asks about a painting on the wall of the host s house, most particularly about the young woman in the painting. His host agrees that it s a rather striking picture but says there is no person in it and sure enough, later on, when Michael looks again at the painting, the girl is not there. During the journey home, his wife Elizabeth hears Michael say something she doesn t understand and when she asks him he insists he hasn t spoken. This is just the start of a change in Michael s behaviour that gives Elizabeth cause for concern. Their ten year marriage can hardly be said to have been happy; in fact, on the morning... Dead Until Dark: A Sookie Stackhouse Vampire Mystery - Charlaine Harris ... what seems to be the current vampire craze, and personally being obsessed with Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, I picked up this book hoping for something similar. Dead Until Dark is the first book in a currently 9 book series, with number 10 on the way next year. Sookie Stackhouse works as a cocktail waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. However, she isn t as ordinary as you might think, as Sookie can hear people s thoughts. This disability hinders Sookie s life and makes having any kind of love life nearly impossible as hearing your partners thoughts while you re with them is slightly difficult to deal with. The world which Sookie lives in is one in whi... Read the full review: A vampire walks into a bar... by kirsty_tinx |
