The Rats - James Herbert: ... first read this book over twenty years ago when I was working in a hospital. Readers of James Herbert will know that this was not clever of me as I used to work the night shift, alone, and of course I would always be reading it scared to death. The Rats was Herbert s first novel which was first published in the seventies. The story is a little strange but once you read it you actually start to look at rats a little...

fallguy From a Buick 8 - Stephen King
... am a big Stephen King fan and have read most of his books. When this title came out I must admit that I was very skeptical, it does come across as a Christine rip off. This is a book that I did not read straight away because I did believe it would be the same as Christine. Eventually I did get round to reading it and I can say without a shadow of a doubt this is definitely not a Christine rip-off. I will try not to spoil the story. The story revolves around a strange car (a Buick 8) that appears one day at a gas station. The local police take it back to their barracks and quickly realise that it is no ordinary car. The Buick is kept under wraps in a shed (Shed B). S...

Maximus-Qualitus I am Legend - Richard Matheson
... Am Legend. Author - Richard Matheson I remember watching the original film The Omega Man , starring Charlton Heston. It was a bit poor and massively different from this book. The latest version starring will smith is slightly different from the book but closer to the mark. The story; ~~~~~~ Robert Neville is the last Normal human alive in the city of Los Angeles and possibly the last in the world. Every night he has to barricade himself inside his home getting drunk whilst Vampires roam the streets. His neighbours and friends taunt him, "Come outside, we have something to show you". His mind is constantly prayed upon with doubts and agonies of why only ...

dididave Duma Key - Stephen King
... Freemantle has issues. After losing his arm in an accident at work he has become increasingly aggressive to the point were he has lost his wife and become a shadow of his former self. More in desperation than hope, Edgar take his psychiatrists advice and takes a break from it all in the beautiful Florida backwater of "Duma Key". In this place Edgar finds a new purpose and passion in painting and his vivid paintings of sunsets soon begin to attract attention. However, does the phantom itch in his missing arm mean something and why does he seem compelled to paint the tragic story of the doomed sisters of Duma Key? It has been a long time since I have re...
