Michelle Maxwell and Sean King return once again to help solve crimes being committed by a serial killer. A serial killer who likes to kill in the same way of various serial killers of the past. The killer leaves watches at the scene of each crime. The more they investigate the more the very wealthy Battle family seem to be involved. All is not as it seems though, as Baldacci makes twists and turns from chapter to chapter keeping the reader guessing all the way through. A serial killer is on the loose in Wrightburg, Virginia. The killer has a penchant for imitating well known serial killers and leaves clues to this effect for the police to find. With little progress being made by the police, they call on Michelle Maxwell and Sean King. Maxwell and King are ex Secret Service agents who both left the service under different clouds and have joined forces to become partners in their own private investigation firm.
