Advantages: a brilliant read

The House That Jack Built is a riveting read from start to finish. Its about a young successful lawyer,Craig Bellman, who is badly injuredin a horrific street mugging. Some one getting there revenge on him for putting them away no doubt. He decides to up and leave the rat race of humanity of the city, and he and his wife Effie, head to the quiet country to restore his health and their tattered marriage.

When Craig stumbles apon a old mansion,Valhalla,Craig becomes obsessed with it.He ignores Effies Pleaas she senses something is wrong, and makes enquiries about buying it

Effie was right about one thing, the mansion wasnt good at all.It was built by a legendary gambler and womeniserJack Belias.Effie to try to solidify her intuition, recuits a spiritualist in attempt to get rid of the awful vibrations that are felt within the house- but is she too late? Craig who is now becoming a stranger to Effie and more like Jack Belias, will Effies love for Craig break the spiritual hold Jack has on Craig?

If you like psychological thrillers, this book is for you.It is very well written, with the idea for spirit possession in mind--not the Exorist kind, but slowly subtly overtaking the will over another.Jack Belias was a violent man, often raped and torturing his women, and slowly and surely Craig starts acting like him.He even starts using the name of Jacks girlfriends, and uses obscene language to Effie. Effie is a very weak in her character during the beginning of the story but as things start to hot up, she has to get stronger. Eventually the mansion relives the horrifying past of Jack Belias with Effie, and the rest of the people who walk into the mansion as people who knew him.

True horror at its best and I read this in two days while travelling in a car, couldnt put it down and neither will you.

i too just finished reading this book a matter of days ago. i loved it, it kept me reading, couldn't put it down!
it was very cleverly written, and very erotic in some places!!----(talk of his flaccid penis with semen on the end!) and (him thrusting inside her whilst calling her 'bitch' repeatedly!)
the horror graham masterton envokes in the reader is excellent, i'd never heard of him till i brought this book, now i'm going to read some of his others and see if i like them! i'd definately reccomend this one, but its not for the feint-hearted!
