The author of this book Kathy Kelly should be very proud of me as I managed to read her book for nothing making use of a friends copy and so saving the purchase price which would have blown most of a weeks budget based upon her recommendations.

The thought of being able to live on a pound a day without resorting to crime does seem absurd but then there are a group of people called freegans who attempt to live for nothing, personally I do not see the point, spending your life scratching around trying not to spend money and would rather go out and enjoy myself.

This is a relatively short book, it only stretches to 184 pages and is written in a diary format. To be honest the book title is a bit misleading as it is more about saving money and the author goes into little detail as to how they survived on only a pound a day.

The writing style is rather informal and certainly it is easy to read, I would be a bit miffed if I had paid good money to read this as it lacks any sort of substance to it, some of the lighter moments are amusing but on the whole this seems like the sort of book aimed at creating a buzz with the title and then failing to deliver on what it hints at.

Overall a disappointing effort with much of this type of advice availble free via the internet so not a book I would recommend and one I was happy to return to my mate.
