This was another Christmas present for my young daughter of 2 years. This time it was bought by me. The reason I chose this was because I thought it was a bit different from most of the mainstream kid's books out there, and I'd also heard it had won an award, so I thought it must be good! I ordered it online from Amazon so I didn't get to sample it before buying, but I thought I would risk it seeing as though I had only heard praise about this book. I think I paid full price - £5.99. I was lucky enough to be given this book as a leaving present from a collegue when I was about to go on Maternity leave and although my baby is too young to appreciate it yet, I think it's fabulous. 'How To Catch a Star' is a book written and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. It has a retail price printed on it of £5.99 and the back page tells the reader that it is published by HarperCollins. The front cover tells me that it was shortlisted for the Booktrust Early Years Award 2004. The book tells the story of a boy who loves stars so much that he wishes that he had one of his own. The story follows his mission to try and find a star to keep for ... Read the complete review

Being a mother keen to encourage my son and his love of reading, I agreed to take him into town to pick up a new book. As it turned out, the 3 for 2 offer at Early Learning Centre proved too much temptation and I left the store with three. I am sure many of ... Read the complete review
