Advantages: loads of inspiring ideas and useful tips

Disadvantages: Recipes aren't always healthy and aren't the kind you would follow closely

I really enjoyed reading this book but don't think I will really follow it religiously as a 'cook book'. It's more of a good, quick read which will inspire you, give you loads of ideas and help you dream up lots of quick, cheap easy recipes you'd like to try yourself.
I would argue that not all the recipes are exactly 'healthy', many are based around traditional old-school cooking, but none of them are terrible for you either and the book does encourage you to think about how you can make a diet more varied and rounded.
I loved Holcombe's lunch box tips and even though I don't have children yet, I've been trying them out on my partner!
Once recipe which I do love is the Tuna Lasagne - I've already used this three times - once on my seven and three-year old nephews - and it's gone down well every time. This one is healthy, and disguises loads of nutritious veg like spinach, so is great for veg-hating adults and children alike! It's also really quick and easy to make and you can easily double-up, making enough for at least two nights in a row.
Holcombe's book (I won't repeat the title!) is well-written and amusing and contains a wealth of handy tips which you can put to good use straight away. It's great for anyone trying to cut down on their food bill, but if you want detailed, step by step recipes to follow carefully, this book is probably not for you.
Her chapter 'make dinner not excuses' really does make you think.
I picked this book up from the Works for a mere £3.99 - a real bargain!

Summary: This book is really inspiring and will help you think about how to save money and cook properly
