Advantages: Hilarious and truthful
Disadvantages: None
How to Kill your Husband (and other handy household hints) is the hilarious story of three friends who all have their own separate marriage problems.
Cassie O'Carroll - full time worker and mother, juggles her roles as primary school teacher, mother, wife and animal carer to her husband's vet business's guests, cannot see that her marriage has any flaws;
Hannah Wolfe - childless career woman, owning her own art gallery and married to her perfect artist, is adamant in telling her friends (and herself) that this is exactly the life she wanted; and
Jazz Jardine - stay at home mum, married to a famous doctor, will take not seeing much of her husband over being spoiled with luxury.
Each one an ordinary married woman who has her own troubles, which they refuse to see until their best friends gracefully point them out. But when Jazz is arrested for her husband's murder, the three friends come together in proving her innocence only to uncover a trail of lies, deceit, adultery and many secret romps with those other than their own spouses.
Kathy Lette tells a hilarious and dark tale which really hits home with any woman. There are some brilliant one-liners that will have you laughing out loud - I got a few strange looks on the train! Even the chapter titles are well-thought up and give you a good laugh, some of which are:
To Love, Hoover and Obey
The Reason I Don't Tell You When I'm Having an Orgasm Is Because You're Never There
Till Homicide Do Us Part
I'm Having My Period So Can Therefore Legally Kill You
Where There's a Will, I Wanna Be In It
... and the comical list goes on.
My husband bought me this book as a present and I thought the title was very adept. I'd never heard of Kathy Lette before but after reading this book I went out and bought some of her other books without even reading the blurb! I'd thoroughly recommend this book - it really is a remarkably truthful and hilarious read.
Summary: A brilliant book that will have you laughing out loud
