Very thorough, gives exceptions and builds up in difficulty Complicated language used, it is expected you already know grammar terms

Authentic recordings; good vocabulary Grammar not detailed enough

Large amount of information in a lightweight book Reference only, not a workbook

Languages - Cockburn, David

Useful vocab lists by topic, colourful, easy to find information, lots of useful structures Reads too much like a dictionary or phrasebook with little emphasis on principles of the language
