Lauren Child might be better known as the creator of Charlie & Lola, but Hubert Horatio Bartle Bobton-Trent is a little gem in her backlist. Hubert was born because his very rich parents had tired of their luxurious lifestyle & "wanted to meet someone new". Luckily for them he turns out to be a wonderchild: using the telephone at one, reading at two, swimming at three. He's a dab hand at everything but flower arranging & cake baking. His best friend, Stanton Harcourt the Third from nextdoor, is just as brainy & together they make a formidable pair; doing fractions for fun & suchlike.
