I could quite happily churn out lots of detail about this mans life and background, making you read lots of useless facts that don't relate to my actual opinion. But I won't. Instead I will tell you what I think about his writings, from my own experience of reading his books. As I have stated before in one of my previous reviews I am very keen on Aldous Huxley, and he is one of my favourite authors. I am currently reading 'Eyeless in Gaza' and have sadly only managed to get up to page 24. Aldous Huxley was a brilliant man. I have only read two of his books, Brave New World and The Doors Of Perception, but I have a great deal of respect - awe, even - for the man from my limited reading. Brave New World deals with many uncomfortable issues (the Pavlov-esque conditioning of children, for example) but neglects to judge them morally, and so becomes extremely thought-provoking. The Doors Of Perception, an account of Huxley's first psychedelic experience, is incredibly interesting, almost enough to make you want to try mescaline yourself - I have yet to see as compelling and thought-provoking a discussion of any drugs experience.
