read, but is still quite happy to read my son s copies, who has just discovered the delight that is "Charlie and Lola". The characters were created by Lauren Child, and we were first acquainted with them through the television series shown on Cbeebies, they in themselves were more than enjoyable, so when we saw there were also books to accompany the series I was intrigued to see if they could compare with the imaginative and true to life children s programme. My daughters are big fans of the Charlie and Lola books written by Lauren Charles, so when we saw a book about another character of hers - Clarice Bean - we decided that it would be a good one to add to our library selection. From the picture on the front cover you can predict that there are likely to be many similarities between this book and the Charlie and Lola ones, not least because Clarice Bean looks very much like a slightly older version of Lola.
