Advantages: Greater knowledge of Jackie Chan, Entertaining Read, Amazing story
Disadvantages: none , none , and none again
Jackie Chan: My Life in Action was the first autobiography I ever read and I have failed to find anything to beat it. Jackie Chan world ronound for his superb martial arts films writes about his amazing life in this book. And what a life it is. Even his birth is an amazing story in itself. He writes in great detail about his life, when he was born, growing up in an Austrailian embassy as the son of the servants. Failing in school and being sent to a Chinese Opera Academy were he was put threw hard trainings, beatings, bullyings and more. He then goes on to tell of how he got into the industry starting out as a stuntman making a name for himself ( and he had quite a few) for taking on dangerous stunts. He eventually became a lead star and eventually became the most famous star in the world. But he doesnt only talk about how he became a star, he also talks about the people in his life who are dear and not so dear in his life with a great amount of honesty. He talks lovingly about his mother who during his academy years would care a bag full of boiling water all the way from the embassy to the Opera house just to give him a bath every week. The distance was so great that it burnt her hands. He also talks lovingly about his first love and many loves to come. He talks about his friendships, the most interesting being with the man who would eventually be named Samo who was extremely mean to him during is opera academy but they became close friends...sort of. All in all I dont want to ruin this book by telling you everything about it, but if I were you Id read it because it is the best book I have ever read. Even if you are not a fan you would be amazed at his life.

calypte - 27.08.03 A very warm welcome to Dooyoo! You've made a good start, but I would recommend a few things to get those highest ratings. First, you need to have more personal opinion about the book - why you liked it, what you thought about any particular bits. Secondly, as well as mentioning the plot, think about the style of writing, the tone.
Don't worry - you'll get the hang of things very quickly! Have a read about the site - looking at other reviews will give you a hint of what I'm talking about, and by rating and commenting you'll also get your name 'out there'. Most of all, enjoy being a member here!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask - the easiest way is probably through my Tooyoo guestbook. You'll find the link on my profile page, and can get your own guestbook for free :)
