You should actually eat when you are in between the extremes, which in practice, is not always possible. iii) Eat much slower Eating is meant to be an almost spiritual experience where you chew each mouth full slowly and savour the tastes, textures and the feelings you get whilst eating. iv) Stop eating when you are full Being full can sometimes...more

Do you trust an electrician to operate on you? Do you call a surgeon to install your boiler? Or a gardener to repair your car? Then why trust a celebrity with your diet? Let's take a good hard look at "Dr" Paul McKenna. What are his credentials for writing a diet book? Is he a nutritionist? Is he a scientist specializing in adipose tissue? Does he know anything about fitness? Does he have a doctorate from a reputable university, where you have to put in four years' hard labour and write a 100,000 word thesis on to get a PhD, or did he do rather less to get his title? I'm glad to say I didn't buy this book (I borrowed it from the library), ...  Read the complete review

Paul McKenna is a hypnotherapist that has become a household name by personally helping celebrities to quit smoking, lose weight etc, releasing self help books and CDs and hosting a hypnosis show, that was aired on a Saturday night, that ridiculed some audience members by hypnotising them and making them do stupid things. I have never been hypnotised and am sceptical about whether it works. Whilst watching the Paul McKenna show years ago I often wondered whether the audience were actually hypnotised or whether they were 'plants'. In addition, of those people I know that have been hypnotised (and there are only two of them) it did not work, so I did not hold ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I Can Make You Thin - Paul McKenna: You can make Paul McKenna rich (933 words)

Some psychologists would have us believe that when we have a problem, we have that problem because we are blaming everyone else. Now while it is true that sometimes when we have a problem in life, it can be the fault of others and sometimes things are beyond our control. But, yes, the psychologists are right to generalise in order to empower us - to tell us to stop blaming everyone else - to grab the bull by the horns and get on with eradicating a problem. And so in the "important note from Paul McKenna", Paul McKenna goes ahead and blames everyone else on our behalf. He says "...you have been brainwashed by diets to believe that weight loss is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Did Paul McKenna Make Me Thin? (644 words)

I Can Make You Thin by Paul Mckenna is different from other diet plans. Instead of counting calories or carbs or fat content of food it is based on you eating whatever you like but changing the way you think about food. The plan is split into two parts, a book and CD. The book is short and to be honest I found it a bit of a waste of time. I was really annoyed that the 139 pages contained many blanks, double page testimonials and was in large print so there is really very little content. In six chapters it takes you through the plan and lays out the steps you need to take to be thin for life. These are to only eat when you are hungry, eat what you want, eat ...  Read the complete review

This review also appears on another review site under the same name. Another diet book?? That is what I thought when I saw Paul McKenna’s book ‘I can make you thin’ on the shelf of my local book shop. I was just browsing around, mum was in the library and I was filling time. This looks interesting I thought and picked it up. On the back I read ‘Are you ready for something really different?’ or words to that effect. I can’t quote perfectly because my sister in law has borrowed this book at the moment. I opened the book and had a little read, after all that is what books are for isn’t it? Paul McKenna told ...  Read the complete review
