Advantages: easy to read
Disadvantages: felt too much was missing from it
I choose to live by Sabine Dardenne, is a true story of strengh and survival, sharing with us the story of a young girl kidnapped and held hostage by a man who physically and mentally abused her for 80 days.
The book takes you on a journey of 12 year olds Sabine's kidnapping. It tells a story of the tragic events that occured during this time, and the physical and mental abuse she suffered by Marc Dutroux a serial killer.
The book isnt particularly well written, but its easy to read and does tell her story well, which is worth reading. It may be upsetting to read. However this book isnt too graphic and the horrible details have been left out.
What you do get in this book is a story of courage and survival with her eventual release. This can be inspiring to read that against all odds Sabine is a survivor. I wont go into great details about the story too much, but the book is good. However l did feel that there was something missing. Perhaps this is because the english version is a translated copy. Im not sure, it just doesnt grip the reader quite as much as l felt it should.
My copy of this book is a hardback copy and is priced at £12.99 although lm sure if you shopped around you could get it much cheaper than that.
To summarise, its worth a read!
Summary: worth a read!
