Advantages: Realistic, very easy to read, funny and spicy
Disadvantages: None
Years ago, in a forgotten part of her life, Sarah Roberts did something very bad. Now she's trying to make up for it by having a respectable job, a nice boyfriend, going to regular 'save the earth' meetings and promising herself that she'll never do a bad thing again. But when someone from her past walks back into her life, Sarah has no choice but to come to terms with what she did. And all of a sudden being bad doesn't seem so bad any more.
~ My opinion ~
I love a good chick-lit and this one sounded brilliant full of fun and spice.
The book is written in the first person from the view of the main character, Sarah. It is a very interesting yet varied read as the chapters alternate, going from the present day and then back to Sarah's younger life. This means that we get to read about her at the time when she did this bad thing which makes her more likeable as we see her side to the story and the pain she went through which doesn't make her seem all bad. I warmed to her character immediately as she has a typical chick-lit female role which makes readers like her despite her flaws. Although she did a bad thing - actually there were quite a few bad things - I also sympathised with her as her character had tried so hard to put her past behind her that she had forgotten how to have fun and be happy.
Nick, the person who walks back into Sarah's life, is someone that no woman could resist. He's handsome, charismatic, successful and funny but Sarah wants nothing to do with him this time around.
Jonathan, Sarah's current boyfriend, couldn't be any more different to Nick. A primary school teacher and strict vegan, Jonathan lives to do things for others with his caring nature. Despite Jonathan being a lovely guy though, I couldn't help wanting Sarah and Nick to reignite their passion as the chemistry between them was obvious from the start.
Linda Green writes in a way that makes the book very easy to read. She writes in a fairly simple style but still manages to keep you interested and wanting to find out what's going to happen next the entire way through. I got through the book so quickly as I found it was one that was hard to put down. It contained many real life situations, some of which were horrible and some which were shocking, but it was also a very spicy and funny book that had me laughing out loud many times.
I really enjoyed this and am going to make sure that I look out for any future books by Linda Green.
Summary: Haven't we all got a guilty secret?
