Leaving her native Italy to set up home in Kenya during the 1970's, was at first an adventure, then a passionate affair. The country had such a strong pull to Kuki Gallman, that even after numerous set backs and tragedies, she insisted on staying and fighting for a cause close to her heart, conservation particularly anti poaching. This book is written by Kuki Gallman and is about her life. She started her life in Italy but when she married she moved to Africa, which is where the book is set. She tells us about the difficulties of starting life in Africa and the differences that she has to face between Africa and the world that she has grown up in. She tells us how her family became interested in the conservation of animals over there and what they did to increase the worlds awareness of the problems that Africa faced at the time.
