I Heart New York is the debut novel from successful blogger and ghost-writer Lindsey Kelk, who lives in London but, obviously, loves New York. The story is of a twenty-something girl who lives in London with her fiancé of ten years. We join Angela Clark as she is walking down the aisle as chief bridesmaid to her best friend. Dressed in taffeta and killer Christian Laboutin heels, her thoughts wander to how soon her own wedding might take place and what it would be like. Later on, at the reception, Angela heads to the car to retrieve her 'comfortable flats', but is stopped dead in her tracks by the sight of her partner of ten years with his legs ... At her best friend's wedding, Angela walks in on her long-term boyfriend Mark cheating on her with someone on the back seat of their car. Nice. So she does what any self-respecting woman would do - flees... not just the wedding, but the country as well! Angela ends up in New York City with no friends, no money and no job. But she soon makes friend with hotel receptionist Jenny and she's determined to put a smile back on Angela's face. Cue a LOT of spending in Bloomingdale's, getting drunk and meeting a couple of hunks along the way too. Angela also lands her dream job of being a writer - it seems everything is going right for her at last. But despite blogging her romance ... Read the complete review

I've an avid fan of chick lit books and this looked like exactly the type of book that I'd enjoy when I came across it on a trip to Sainsbury's a couple of months ago. ***The Plot*** The plot centres on Angela, who discovers that her boyfriend has been cheating on her and makes a rash decision to take off to New York with little in the way of money or belongings. This plot background takes up little of the story and the main action happens once she hits New York and starts her American adventure. ***The Characters*** Aside from Angela, the main characters are Jenny, Tyler and Alex. Jenny works in the hotel at which Angela checks in after ... Read the complete review

I saw "I heart New York" by Lindsey Kelk, advertised in the London Lite on the way home from work one night. It looked like an "easy read", "chick lit", romantic comedy, a novel that is light and easy to read, so I looked it up and added it to my Amazon wishlist. We were in a big Tesco the other day and they had this novel on sale for £3.00 instead of the recommended retail price of £6.99 so I grabbed it whilst I had the chance. (It is also on Amazon for £5.49, with free delivery) The story centres around the main character Angela Clark and her adventures in New York. After breaking up with her boyfriend ...
