Advantages: Interesting, Not usual clarkson
Disadvantages: Some boring bits
In this book my Clarkson he discusses some of the most amazing buildings, cars, machines and pieces of engineering and how they "have soul".
He goes through all of the machines as you would expect talking about each one of them in each separate chapter.
Unlike his other books it isn't a collection of articles from newspapers and other pieces of work, this is entirely different and written for the book - IMO this makes it much more readable and more fluent.
Another difference to usual is Jemery's lack of comedy - usually he has fun by joking all the way through books, however this is written in a completely different style without the jokes - however I found it much more interesting than some of his other books.
For each machine Clarkson discusses:
It's history
Why he likes it
General Information
Some of the articles in the book are boring however, and sometimes you get the feeling he doesn't like a certain machine and doesn't have a huge amount positive (or generally) to say about it.
However, on balance it is a good book but it's not got any value in reading it again.
Summary: Good

- 06/06/09 I enjoyed this too, especially when he writes about some of my favourite machines such as the Millenium Falcon. |
