Tony Ross is a fantastic illustrator and the illustrations in this book don't disappoint, unless you are terrified of monsters!
He portrays the monster as a big, grizzly, scary beast with sharp teeth and quite frankly he's not a good looking chappy! He looks positively terrifying when he hurls himself towards Tommy the next morning.

He crushes all of the banana people and causes huge destruction, finally eating the whole planet except for the hot inner core. And off he goes to try and find the planet called Earth.
