Advantages: A lovely story

Disadvantages: Not very long

I'm not cute is written by Jonathan Allen and was first published in 2005 and cost £5.99 if you want to buy it brand new.

The story tells of a small and fluffy baby owl who has a massive chip on his shoulder! He hates being called 'cute' by all of the animals in the forest and tried to explain why he isn't cute. When he finally moans to his mother about the situation she agrees that he isn't 'cute' and is more of a 'hunting machine' at which point baby owl has a mood swing and decides that he is 'cute'! The book ends as the mother owl has a revolutionary idea on how to resolve the situation!!

This book is a lovely little story that features a very 'cute' owl that is very loveable despite his little 'pre-menstral syndrome'. As the story progresses it will remind every parent of similar situations that happen in their everyday life with their children. It made me smile as the mother knew exactly what to do!

The illustrations in this book are extremely simple and easy to look at whilst being bold and big at the same time. The shades of pastel suit the theme and characters of the book well and engage the reader at the same time.

The text is similar to the pictures in that each word is big and bold and there aren't very many pon each page. It's an easy book to read and only takes a few minutes from start to finish so if you have a 'wild child' then they may just sit still for this one!

Noah enjoyed this book and I felt that it was a good one for appreciating each others characters. We had a nice talk about certain aspects of the book and it was nice to cuddle in together and one of those rare one to one moments.

This book is definitely a great read and I would recommend it for any child aged 18 months or younger. It made me smile and I'm sure it will do the same for you!

Summary: Read it!
