'I Robot' is a collection of short stories written in the 40's and 50's, originally as stand alone short stories in Science Fiction magazines but here they are published as a collection. In these stories the nature and principles of robots are examined in detail probably for the first time. It is interesting how Asimov viewed a future society incorporating robots. In this future Robots are built to look like humans, whereas in our own world robots are machines adapted for specific tasks and rarely resemble humans. Asimov argued that since robots were to take over manual work from humans and that most machine designed to help with manual work ... Read the complete review

Another gem from the master of science fiction! This is a collection of short stories that were originally printed in various science fiction magazines in the 1940s and 1950s. This one is a little different from Asimov's other short story collections. In the vast majority of Asimov's short story collections he includes little snippets of autobiographical details in between the stories, things like how he came to get the story published, and what was going on in his life at the time. This book is described as a collection of short stories. The description is quite accurate but after reading this book I would advise anyone to read the book from start to finish like a novel. The reason for this is that the story builds up to a "final conclusion", for want of a better description, which would not be understood should you have chosen to read just the final short story. This book gives more the impression of a full novel that has been carved up into very large chapters. The book is set with the premise of a reporter interviewing one of the head 'robopsychologists' at US Robots and Mechanical Men, Inc. During the course of the ... Read the complete review

I wasn't to sure about this film, but decided to give it a go as it was the only dvd in our collection that I hadn't watched...I have to say I was quite impressed! The story is set 30 years into the future when robots play a key role in everyday life, soon there will be one robot in every home which most people think is great, but not Will Smith of course, for some reason (i still dont understand what) he really dislikes robots and thinks that there are capable of evil things as are humans. So surprise Surprise it turns out that he was right and that some mad old scientist guy had invented an evil robot design before he died ( a robot not implanted with ... Read the complete review
