Having been through toilet training with my elder daughter, and going through it at the moment with my younger one, I have found that it is always good to find a decent book which helps to deal with the subject. 'I Want My Potty' is one such book! It is written and illustrated by Tony Ross, and is part of his Little Princess stories (which are televised on Channel 5's Milkshake) and certainly deals with the subject in a humourous way. In 'I Want My Potty' we meet the character of the Little Princess, and at the beginning of the book she is just at the stage where she is beginning to think that nappies are rather disgusting - in fact she thinks they are ... I want my potty First published in 1986, this was a great favourite of all 3 of my children, although I have to say that Little Miss enjoyed it far more than the boys did! I first read it way backing 1991 when the eldest was being potty trained. It’s one of those books which hasn’t dated- after all, children will always need to be potty trained and when they are in the process of this training, they do like to hear stories of other children going through exactly the same thing. THE STORY As with all of my book reviews, I will include a brief synopsis of the story so that parents and carers can gauge the appropriateness of the ... Read the complete review

I have seen pictures of this book but I've never actually read it. Noah decided that he'd quite like to add it to his ever growing pile of books that we were borrowing from the library and so it came home in a carrier bag with us on Wednesday. 'I want my potty' is written by Tony Ross and was first published in 1986 by Picture Lions. The story tell of the little princess who, one day decides that she doesn't like wearing nappies anymore. The queen tries to encourage her to sit on the potty when she feels that she needs a wee but the little Princess isn't happy with this idea. Eventually she comes around to the idea and enjoys sitting on the potty ... Read the complete review

Now call me old fashioned, but children's stories about wee and poo are a bit odd aren't they? Still, it makes my boy laugh, so that's the main thing. 'I Want My Potty' is a children's story about 'Little Princess', who is being potty trained. At first she hates the thing, but soon gets attached to it. One day, she needs a wee so bad she runs around shouting "I want my potty" at everyone, but it's too late and she wets herself. Ok, let's start with the positive. The story is imaginative, with a range of interesting characters. The vocabulary is simple and repetitive so little ones can learn. The illustrations are full page and colourful, ...
