Written by Robert A Heinlein at the height of his success, following Stranger in a Strange Land, I Will Fear No Evil could certainly never be accused of unoriginality with the storyline. The central plot is as follows (hang on to your hats): a rich old millionaire (imagine Mr Burns with a heart) comes up with an amazing possibility to cheat death. He gets a group of younger volounteers to sign up that if they should be involved in a fatal accident they agree that his living brain can be transplanted into their body to attempt to allow him to go on living. An old and very wealthy man arranges to have his brain transplanted into a suitable body on the event of his death.... and the body he gets is that of his recently deceased secretary, Eunice Branca. Young, good looking and very sexy, Eunice is also still very present in her own head. This is an amazing story of sexual exploration and gender, with some fantastically weird science, all set in a very seedy future city. The interplay between the characters, the difficulty of relating to an old man in the body of a young woman and the whole question of identity are explored to great effect.I will fear no evil is not as much about death as the title might suggest, and ...
