After Honor Harrington's experience with the Q-ships and their success rate, she heads back to Grayson and her steading. She is not only accomplied by Nimitz, Samantha (his mate), and the kittens, but as well by other Treecats "emigrating" to Grayson. Upon arrival, Farragut "bonds" with Miranda (Honor's maid), the first Grayson-Treecat bond. Honor and Admiral White Haven discuss the changes in the Manticore Navy. In the midst of the discussion, the Admiral realizes how beautiful Honor is.
